Waste Removal Guidelines

The Lockland Public Works Department provides residents with weekly refuse and yard waste collection in addition to truck service for hauling large items or large quantities of refuse. Dean Walden is the Public Works Director and can be reached at (513) 733-0957.

  New Refuse Collection Schedule:

The Village's refuse collection has always been confusing to residents so we are going to simplify the schedule to better serve you. Effective June 13, 2005, each customer will receive refuse collection service one time each week, either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, depending on your location.

To schedule the pick-up of large items, call 733-0957.or 761-1124

Items That Will NOT be Collected:

The Village does NOT collect waste or rubble resulting from building demolitions, remodeling, repairs, or construction. Private collection of these items should be arranged by the property owner.

The Village will NOT accept motor oil, tires, vehicle batteries, anti-freeze, brake fluid, paint, shingles, tar paper, blacktop or any other hazardous or potentially hazardous substances. Private collection of these items should be arranged by the property owner.

For more information concerning what the Village will or will not accept, contact Dean Walden at 733-0957.

  Large Item Pick-up

Large items will NOT be picked up with the refuse pick-up. These items will be picked up on Fridays (except holidays). Residents need to call ahead for large item pick-up at Town Hall (761-1124) or the Service Garage (733-0957) prior to 9:00 AM Friday. Items that contain freon will have to be removed by a licensed person and tagged as such before pick-up. Cutting pipes and discharging of freon is against Federal Law.

  Yard and Brush Waste:

Brush and yard waste will be picked up with refuse collection and should be placed in cans at curb after 7:00 PM the day before scheduled pick-up.

Fall leaves will be collected at curb side on Mondays, October 1st through December 15 (except holidays) weather permitting and at other times with personnel and time permitting. Do not rake leaves into the gutters; it is not possible for the equipment to get in such tight areas. Grass clippings, sticks, and rocks can damage and clog the equipment. These piles will not be picked up.

Tree limbs will be picked up on Mondays, January through September (except holidays). If scheduled Monday falls on a holiday, it will be re-scheduled for the following Monday. Limbs should be set at curb side after 7:00 PM Sunday night. LImbs should be laid in same direction and no larger than five inches thick. Limbs blocked by autos or stacked with other items will NOT be collected. Stumps and/or root balls will NOT be accepted. Residents having large amounts of limbs will be required to rent an over-night truck for self-loading (see below). The Village will not pick up limbs due to private contractor doing tree work.

  Truck Service:

The Village makes trucks available to residents on a first-come, first-served basis for a small fee during evening or weekend hours to load large quantities of refuse. See above for a list of items the Village will NOT accept. To schedule or check on availability of truck, call Town Hall at 761-1124.

  Household Hazardous Waste Collection:

Hamilton County Environmental Services (513-946-7734) will collect hazardous waste. Contact them by phone or visit www.hcdoes.org for more information.
